Although only teaching- and research-related information should be posted here, I deliberately deviate from this rule, because I am horrified with an ecologically hostile attitude towards malfunctioning or ageing electronic devices. They are mercilessly dumped instead of being repaired or cleaned, which is questionable from the sustainability angle. An argument that I hear frequently is that nowadays a place at which CRT TV sets, VHS and cassette tape players/recorders, 8 mm camcorders etc. can be repaired or rejuvenated is difficult to find.
Well, there is such a place nearby! Dealing on two occasions with M J Electronics Service was a pleasant and rewarding experience. Mr. Jay Malhie brought to life (for a very reasonable price) four pieces of equipment including my dearly loved Sony ICF SW-55 radio, which was bought 20 years ago and then heavily (too heavily, I may admit) used.
Although I prefer to darn a small hole in a sock rather than to buy a new pair, I do not want to impose my viewpoint on what to do with your broken or outdated electronics. I merely want you to be aware that there is trustworthy local company, that Mr. Jay Malhie will kindly and professionally take care of your malfunctioning items.
