Welcome to the website of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)! On these pages you will find biographical information on our 14 full time faculty members and distinguished professors emeriti. Prospective graduate students can learn more about the many award winning and cutting edge research activities being conducted in the department in areas such as nanomaterials, solar cells, supercapacitors, batteries, computational materials science, corrosion, materials for automotive applications, and characterization. In addition, information is provided on several interdisciplinary research institutes associated with our department: the Canadian Centre for Electron Microscopy, the Brockhouse Institute for Materials Research, the Centre for Automotive Materials and Corrosion, and the Steel Research Centre. The department home page provides a convenient link to information and frequently asked questions concerning the graduate application process.
Undergraduate students will find important and useful information on the MSE website as well. The entire curriculum and course listings are provided. Students can learn how upper level technical electives can be chosen to allow for specialization in specific areas of materials science, such as polymers or electronic materials. Exciting co-ops, internships and scholarships available to undergraduates are described in detail and information on a unique opportunity to study abroad at our sister school, Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble, France, is provided.
We hope you find our website informative and interesting. If you have any additional questions about the Department of Materials Science and Engineering please do not hesitate to contact us.
