Application Notes


Please read instructions carefully when submitting an online application in MOSAIC.

All documents MUST be uploaded at the time of application.

DO NOT mail any documents

(if an offer of admission is received – bring all official documents with you upon arrival at McMaster)

Once your application is submitted, documents CANNOT be added.

Required Application Documents to be Uploaded:

  • Transcripts
  • Statement of Interest
  • Letters of Recommendation (two academic references)
  • English Language Proficiency (IELTS minimum 6.5  or TOEFL minimum 80)
    ~ Only required if English is not your native language or unless you have graduated from an Institution in the US, Canada, UK, or Australia.
  • Resume (optional)
  • Record of Landing (Permanent Residents of Canada only – Front & Back copy of card)

You are required to provide TWO ACADEMIC REFERENCES.

Please enter all reference contact information where indicated on the application. Each reference will receive an email with a online link to submit their reference.

If your reference(s) do not receive an email request or cannot access the online application, please have them forward one of the follow document and/or a letter of reference direct to me at

*** Due to the large volume of applications, application status requests will not be answered.***


The updating of application checklist is a manual process complete on a monthly basis (more frequently during peak application times). All application received are reviewed the first week of the following month and every two week during peak application times. The application checklist will be updated at this time.

Checklist Status:

Initiated: application submitted, not reviewed

Complete:  documents received

Once you have submitted your online application, you will receive an email confirming your application has been successfully submitted. The email will contain important information about how to access Mosaic to follow the status of your application and your checklist of required documents.

If you have submitted all of the required documentation and the application status indicates “Initiated” the program office staff may not have had the opportunity to update your status due to high application volumes.

Application status will be changed to “Complete” as soon as the application is reviewed and documents are confirmed as received.
If you do not meet the minimum requirements of the program – Mosaic will be updated to “Denied”.

You will be contacted by a supervisor if a recommendation for admission is made. Offers of admission are made on an ongoing basis.
All application are valid for the academic year in which applied – if an offer is not received your file will be closed.
